Art Organization to be resource for other arts groups

East Hampton, N.Y.— A new and independent arts and culture council dedicated to supporting organizations of artists, writers, musicians, performing artists and other cultural groups in East Hampton has been formed, Robert Anthony, acting chairman of the council announced here this week.

“The East Hampton Arts and Culture Council—EHACC—plans to bring together the town’s various arts and cultural organizations and provide them with resources that will help them advance their own missions,” Anthony said. The council has already signed up several major arts and cultural organizations groups in East Hampton as members, he said.

Representatives from interested arts and cultural organizations should write webmaster@ehacc.org.

The EHACC, which originated two years ago as the Arts and Culture Subcommittee for the Comprehensive Plan for the Town of East Hampton, plans to guide local arts organizations in finding sources of funding, promotional guidance, idea generation, and technical support, among others.

Member organizations will also work cooperatively with one another, sharing ideas and information in support of the greater good of strengthening the town’s already-vibrant arts and culture community, Anthony said.

Current council member organizations include the Artists Alliance of East Hampton; Bay Street Theater; the East End Special Players; the East Hampton Historical Society; East Hampton Library; Guild Hall; LTV, Montauk Artists Association, Montauk Theater Productions; the Organizacion Latino Americana; the Pollack-Krasner House, and the Writers Group of the Artists Alliance of East Hampton.

Immediate plans for the EHACC include establishing non-profit status; developing a Web site with links to the council’s member organizations and other relevant groups and services; and a toll-free phone number.
